Propaganda Poster

    A piece of propaganda including myself I thought to include something currently relevant and important in the country. When looking through examples of propaganda posters the ones that caught my eye were those about speech and involving the government, particularly those including a hand covering the mouth of the main subject. I found this to be a significant image and pose to represent being silenced.
    Rather than taking a new picture for the assignment I used a photo from the fourth of July in a USA hat and used images of hands in order to cover my mouth and take away the hat. These were representative of being silenced and where exactly I was being silenced. Finally I added in prison bars to show I was not free. 
    Using layering and arrangement I decided to put the prison bars over myself but the words "FREE SPEECH" as well to include them in the confinement I myself was in. I used different shapes and shades as well as levels of opacities to add in detail to myself and the other depicted items in the created image. I think that my creation was a successful representation of the oppression of speech in comparison to the original image.

The embedding of photography into the U.S. Military was very moving because it gives such an in depth, up close look at what goes on to those who don't witness it first hand. The way that the photo is shown in black and white, simplifies it so the viewer isn't looking at color its more of a view of the action occurring. Seeing the grain captures the effect of the act, fighting is dirty it shouldn't be a clean and clear image its a messy action and is beautifully depicted. The way that Platon is able to photograph actions and individuals in a way that captures their essence using different focuses and perspectives is noticeable in his images. Furnando: In Color

In order to complete a recent assignment, recoloring an image where you connect to another or the world around you, I used an image of my cat and I. Immediately he was in my mind to use to exemplify a connection to anyone in the world. Throughout the creation of the artwork I was unsure of the color and the proper placement for the colors. I eventually decided on the ones chosen based on the different color combinations in the color wheel of triad, square, and analogous. Each color combination ended up including relatively similar shades, as I followed my favorite colors. When coloring the different sections of the image I intended to keep similar shades away from themselves to maximize contrast throughout. Choosing cooler, bright colors properly exemplifies the spirits of my little angel Furnando and I thought it worked well together. The light and bright shades helped to lighten the spirits of a picture in a not so light time of our lives.

     Hello, my name is Jane Scialdone but my friends call me Janie. I am from Rochester, New York and moved to Tampa this January. Previously, I attended University at Buffalo before transferring to The University of Tampa. I spend a great deal of time with friends, outside, and mostly at the gym. When being outdoors isn't an option I love writing, cooking, and baking. Overall I pretty much enjoy doing anything with friends or family. Lastly my favorite sport is hockey and while my favorite team is the Islanders, I go to plenty of Lightning games.      I know that I definitely have had accomplishments and failures but they aren't coming to mind at the moment. In highschool my cheerleading team won nationals two years in a row and to my memory we were undefeated, aside from that I can't say I've had too many accomplishments since then.
